This section on prayer life will give an understanding of the prayer life for the community of Kingdom of God Sisters. Until such a time that a home is secure and the fraternal life can be lived out, each person must use this as a guide.
We are called to live our lives as a "continuous act of prayer and praise" as consecrated women. Prayer takes priority in our day and is weaved throughout our entire day and in each activity we participate in throughout the day.
The Eucharistic Sacrifice, the banquet of the Mass is the heart of our life and that of all Catholics; thus we attend daily Mass as a community. The community also participates together through chanting the Liturgy of the Hours. Each day begins with Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, and a period of silent meditation. At meals taken at the convent we nourish our bodies through the food as well as our souls through spiritual reading. In the evening we gather for a common Holy Hour which includes Evening Prayer and a community Rosary, Stations of the Cross, or Divine Mercy Chaplet. At the end of our day we spend time in scripture reading prior to praying Night Prayer. Following Night Prayer we enter grand silence which allows us to rest in the Lord until Morning prayers.
"Religious life cannot be sustained without a deep life of prayer--individual, communal and liturgical. The religious who embraces concretely a life of total consecration is called to know the risen Lord by a warm, personal knowledge, and to know Him as One with whom he or she is personally in communion: 'This is eternal life: to know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent.' Knowledge of Him in faith brings love: 'You did not see Him, yet you love Him; and still without seeing Him you are already filled with a joy so glorious that it cannot be described.' This joy of love and knowledge is brought about in many ways, but fundamentally, and as an essential and necessary means, through individual and community encounter with God in prayer."
